1.Gglass epoxy resin material

Glass epoxy is a material used to manufacture circuit board soldermask. This material used to be green in colour and became the standard colour for all assemblers in the industry using the same glass epoxy. Some colours have since been introduced to glass epoxy, but assemblers always consider using green.


2.Green versus white printed text

Assemblers often find it easy and time-saving to scan green circuit boards because they are used to and very familiar with the colour. They say it takes a lot of time to scan a number of different coloured boards. Another reason is that green causes less strain on the eyes when scanning compared to other colours. Green is used because it also contrasts with the text printed in white on the circuit board wiring.


3.Used more in the military

How the military standards have a great impact on the green colour of the circuit boards. Many people believe that green is used in circuit boards for military purposes is very effective. The military requires suppliers to provide green circuit boards, and these suppliers also supply other customers. These circuit boards end up being surplus to the military suppliers. Therefore, not only are assemblers, line workers, or other customers considering green, but the military also accepts the greening of circuit boards.

4.Exposure rate of soldermask

Circuit boards require a higher soldering rate, there are other colours, but they do not provide a higher soldermask for the circuit board. Those with dark colours, such as blue, white or brown, have high pigmentation, so they have dark soldermask. Mainly white and black soldermasks have high exposure. But the green colour provides a dark shade for the exposure rate of workers and high tolerance in the design.


5.Green PCB machine recognition is better

Generally speaking, electronic products have to go through the production of boards and components of the patch welding. There are several steps to make circuit boards in the yellow light room. the PCB colour is green when the visual effect is better in the yellow light room. But this is not the main thing.

When soldering the patches, they must be checked by brushing tin on the solder paste, the patch and the AOI on the backside. These processes require optical positioning and calibration. The green PCB background colour is better for instrument identification.

Part of the detection process relies on workers to observe (but now most of them use flying probe detection instead of manual), staring at the board under the bright light, green pcb board is more friendly to the eyes.


7.Green PCB can reduce production costs

Green PCB can be used in both production and purchasing areas due to its wide range of uses. in addition, in mass production, the same colour coating can be used to reduce the cost of the production line, so the purchasing cost of the green coating will be lower than other costs. Therefore, green is the most common resist with advantages in manufacturing cost and delivery time.


8.Green PCB maintenance is relatively simple

Like black lights, purple lights, blue lights, etc., the circuit board colour is too dark, which will increase the difficulty of maintenance of the motherboard, and the process is not easy to control.
