What is PCB stamp hole?
Stamp holes are holes in the motherboard panel that are used to connect the small PCBs that make up the array together, allowing you to easily remove components from the PCB.
The stamp holes are perforated and break when you push down, allowing you to remove components without damaging the PCB itself.
The role of the PCB stamp hole
1. You can connect the small PCB boards into a set
When you have a bunch of PCBs that need to be connected and are too small to use a connector, you can use stamp hole's to connect them together. The perforations will allow current to flow through the PCB and connect to other PCBs nearby.
2. Can transfer power and data between two different PCBs/devices
If you need a device that can communicate with another device, you can use stamp holes.
Differences between PCB stamp holes and V-grooves
1. V-CUT
V-groove is the most common way of PCB assembly, V-CUT means that several boards or the same board can be combined and spliced together, and then after PCB processing with a V-CUT machine between the boards to cut a V-shaped groove, which can be folded in the process of use or before encapsulation.
When double-sided V-groove is used, the depth of the V-groove should be controlled at about 1/3 (the sum of the grooves on both sides), and the groove size is accurate and the depth is uniform.
Advantages of V-grooves:
· Lower cost
· Easier to manufacture
· Quality will be better and less prone to deformation
2. PCB Stamp Hole
In many designs, PCB stamp holes are used instead of V-grooves.
Advantages of stamp holes:
· better strength, can be directly broken, unlike taps need to be cut by milling machine equipment
· The larger the hole, the more surface area the adhesive will grip, which makes installation easier and prevents the PCB from moving.
